We've arrived at the final week of the 2023 MLB regular season, which means there's only one week of daily strikeout props remaining. Let's finish strong together, starting with my three favorite K props for Monday's shortened MLB slate.
The Los Angeles Angels are in blind auto-fade territory to finish the year. Without Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout in the lineup, L.A. has turned into maybe the worst offensive team in the league. Over the last 15 days, the Angels have the highest strikeout rate (35.9 percent) and the fourth-lowest batting average (.219) in MLB. Jon Gray has gone over this number the last two times he made it beyond the fourth inning, and he should have no problem doing so on Monday night.
Fading Luis Castillo in strikeout props is a dangerous game. The Seattle Mariners starter is averaging 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings this season, and he's gone over 5.5 Ks in 10 of his last 12 starts. Only, it won't be that easy against the Houston Astros on Monday night. The Astros have the lowest strikeout rate in the league over the last month, and Castillo has managed just eight total strikeouts in two starts against Houston this year. This is worth a stab at plus money.
The San Diego Padres are close to being eliminated from playoff contention, but this lineup still has some fight in it. San Diego has the highest batting average (.285) and the highest OPS (.858) in MLB over the last 15 days, and the offense has recorded a 20.6 percent strikeout rate in that span. Now the Padres get to face Logan Webb, who's gone under 4.5 Ks in three of his last four starts. Take the under.
